The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team. The team works with individuals experiencing complex alcohol and drug problems, often accompanied by significant risks and vulnerabilities.
You will play an important role in supporting people who require specialist assessment, treatment, engagement, and assertive care to help manage higher levels of risk and improve outcomes while working across a range of healthcare and community settings, collaborating closely with acute hospitals, liaison psychiatry services, primary care, emergency services, homelessness services, and third-sector organisations to provide coordinated care and support.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

The role is based within the Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team at Wellpark Centre
Key responsibilities:
As an integral member of this nurse-led team, you will work in partnership with individuals, families, and a wide range of professional agencies to provide compassionate, person-centred care. You will support people with complex alcohol and drug problems through specialist assessment, engagement, treatment, and risk management interventions.
You will provide assertive outreach and harm reduction support, helping individuals engage with services during periods of heightened vulnerability, including following release from prison, discharge from hospital, high-risk crisis situations, and non-fatal overdoses. You will act as a key link between acute hospitals, liaison psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services, and wider partner organisations to ensure effective communication, care coordination, and continuity of support.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- You will have the skills and experience required to work with individuals experiencing complex alcohol and drug-related issues and associated risks. You will demonstrate compassionate and caring behaviours, excellent communication and partnership-working skills, and the ability to engage effectively with vulnerable individuals.
- Experience of multidisciplinary working, risk assessment, care coordination, and working collaboratively with healthcare, statutory, and third-sector partners will be essential. An understanding of harm reduction approaches, addiction services, and person-centred care principles will be highly beneficial.

Registered Nurse with Level 1 NMC registration and relevant experience in addiction services or relevant community nursing experience at Band 5.

Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.

Evidence of active and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
