About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled and commercially focused Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a key role within the organisation, responsible for delivering accurate, insightful financial information that supports strategic decision making and drives business performance. You will take ownership of core financial processes including reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, whilst partnering with stakeholders to drive performance and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, review and deliver monthly management accounts on a timely basis.
- Lead month end close processes ensuring that all reconciliations, adjustments and control activities are completed.
- Assist in the preparation and review of regulatory and compliance filings including solvency reporting, FCA and VAT returns so that timely submissions are made.
- Lead the production of year-end financial statements and act as a primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the audit process from planning through to completion to ensure timely delivery, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning cycles to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Provide detailed reporting and analysis on business matters including variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods as well as identifying risks and opportunities to drive cost control.
- Work collaboratively with the CFO and Group Financial Controller to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation.
- Deliver financial reporting and analysis to senior stakeholders, effectively communicating key insights, risks and opportunities to inform and influence business decision-making.
- Act as a role model and ambassador for the finance function, demonstrating professionalism and integrity, and representing the team both internally and externally on financial matters.
- Develop, review, and enhance financial processes, systems, and controls ensuring a strong governance framework which mitigates risk and drives continuous improvements and efficiencies.
About you
- Professional qualified accountant (for e.g. CIMA or ACCA) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience or equivalent, in management accounting or senior finance role including reporting, planning and financial control processes.
- Extensive knowledge in financial reporting, statutory accounts, audit and regulatory compliance (ideally within a regulated environment but not essential).
- Exceptional Excel skills with the ability to analyse complex data sets.
- Experience of data extraction and reporting tools such as SQL (desirable).
- Exposure to coding / automation tools to improve processes (desirable).
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Highly effective communicator with the ability to present financial information clearly at all levels and work collaboratively with others.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage complete deadlines and deliver high quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
