Assistant General Manager – The Kings Arms, Ulverston
Salary: £32,000 per year
The Kings Arms is looking for an ambitious Assistant General Manager to help lead the business, drive standards, and support the growth of the venue.
The Owner/General Manager operates five hospitality businesses and is often off-site. As a result, this role comes with genuine responsibility and autonomy.
The Most Important Requirement
We are looking for somebody who fixes problems, not creates them.
If the Owner/GM asks a question, we do not want to hear:
"I don't know."
Your job is to find the answer.
If something is broken, fix it.
If a customer has a problem, resolve it.
If standards have slipped, improve them.
If staff need direction, lead them.
We want solutions, initiative, and ownership.
Our Three Priorities1. Cleanliness & Standards
This is the number one priority.
The venue, toilets, hotel rooms, bars, cellar, kitchen areas and courtyard must be clean, organised and guest-ready at all times.
2. Marketing & Business Growth
Bring ideas that increase sales, footfall and customer engagement.
We want someone who actively contributes to promotions, events, social media ideas, local partnerships and growing the business.
3. Leadership
Lead from the front.
Motivate the team, maintain standards, solve problems, and create a culture where accountability and customer service come first.

Career Progression
This is not a dead-end management job.
For the right person, there is a realistic opportunity to progress into a General Manager position within 12 months (37k), then Area Manager within 36 months (42k) as the business continues to grow.
