Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our financial team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing financial records, preparing reports, and supporting the organisation’s financial health. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in accounting and experience with various accounting software platforms. The role requires a proactive approach to financial management and the ability to mentor junior team members.
Duties
- Prepare, examine, and analyse financial statements and reports using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other relevant platforms.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Oversee financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support strategic decision-making.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes with meticulous attention to detail.
- Mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and professional development.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by preparing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain organised records of all financial documents for easy retrieval and compliance purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an Accountant within a professional environment, ideally with exposure to financial services sectors.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent platforms is essential.
- Demonstrable knowledge of financial management principles including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is advantageous but not essential.
- A recognised qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is preferred but not mandatory for highly experienced candidates.
