Full job description

We are a private clinic specialising in adult ADHD and autism assessments. We are looking for a motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role offers structured training and regular supervision from a chartered psychologist, making it an excellent opportunity for psychology graduates seeking hands-on clinical experience. You will gain exposure to both client-facing work and service development, with opportunities to learn how ADHD and autism pathways operate in private practice.

This is a second Assistant Psychologist role to support our growing assessment demand. A key requirement for this post is prior ADHD screening experience.

Key Responsibilities

Screening & Information-Gathering Calls (main focus, ~2/3 of role)

Conduct 30-minute structured calls to explore ADHD traits and symptoms using clear screening protocols.
Conduct autism screening calls using structured questions and clinic guidance (autism experience is a plus, but not essential).
Complete informant interviews for autism assessments (e.g., parent/partner informants) following a structured format.
Use decision-tree guidance to assess suitability for full assessment and ensure the right next step is recommended.
Provide clear guidance on next steps and support progression to assessment where appropriate.

Introductory Calls (~1/3 of role)

Run 15–20 minute introductory calls with prospective clients.
Explain the clinic process, answer questions, and support decision-making in a calm and professional way.

Clinical & Administrative Support

Maintain accurate call notes and client records.
Pre-populate assessment reports with data from client questionnaires.
Draft clinical templates and contribute to service SOPs and process improvements.

Requirements

BPS-accredited psychology degree (or equivalent with GBC).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; confident on calls.
Organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow structured processes while maintaining empathy.
Interest in ADHD, autism, and adult neurodiversity.
Essential: prior ADHD screening experience. Applicants must clearly describe their ADHD screening experience in their cover letter (setting, types of screening, tools/protocols used, and approximate volume).

Desirable (Nice to Have)

Autism screening experience (not required, but a plus).
Experience conducting informant interviews for autism assessments.
Experience in adult neurodevelopmental services and/or private practice.

Training & Supervision

Training in our ADHD and autism screening protocols and documentation standards.
Structured scripts and decision-tree guidance to support consistent screening decisions.
Regular supervision from a chartered psychologist.
Opportunities to develop both clinical and service-related skills.

Working Hours

15–20 hours per week (self-employed).
Must be available for 2–3 evenings per week (5–8pm) plus one afternoon (2–6pm).
Flexibility on which afternoons you work.
Calls make up most of your hours, with some time allocated for admin and report work.
