Job Title: Domestic Cleaner
Reporting to: Head, Head of Operations

Purpose of the Position
To carry out general cleaning duties in all buildings and across the school site.
Responsibilities & Duties
To clean a range of school areas as outlined in a weekly/monthly schedules to a required standard.
Areas include:
Classrooms
Common rooms
Toilets and bathrooms
Staircases and communal areas
Deep cleaning
Emptying waste bins
Sweeping floors with brushes or dust control mops.
Mopping floors with wet or damp mops.
Suction cleaning carpeted areas and “spot” cleaning carpets.
Using electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to burnish, scrub, polish and spray clean floors (after receiving proper instruction and training).
To dust, damp wipe, wash or polish furniture, ledges, window sills, external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fittings.
To replenish consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) if required within the contract.
To clean toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks, baths, showers and drinking fountains.
The use of chemical agents as directed by the Domestic Services Co-Ordinator in the discharge of cleaning operations or maintenance procedures, after receiving proper instructions and training.
To undertake wall washing or inside window pane cleaning to a height no greater than body height plus an arm’s extension from floor level, during periodic cleaning maintenance programmes.
Domestic Services personnel can be required to work alone or in teams. are not necessarily appointed to a specific location with the establishment. All staff are expected to be courteous to colleagues and students and provide a welcoming environment to parents and other visitors.
Additional Holiday Duties
Deep clean of all classroom and communal areas, including pulling out and repositioning of furniture
Touching up of paint in wear and tear areas
Re-varnish and scrub of dining tables and benches
Carpets scrubbed in staffroom and communal areas
Boarding bedrooms and common room cleaned, aired and general repairs
Polishing of floors
Light painting of corridor walls and hard wearing areas
Order and replacement of worn out equipment
Complete overhaul and sterilisation of cottage area
To undertake any training necessary
