Full job description

Location

Office based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, but with option for remote working. Project sites are nationwide.

Outline

A great opportunity targeted towards Computer Science/Engineering graduates to join a small, fast growing company involved at the leading edge of the building technologies and IoT industries.

Your role will involve the design, programming and commissioning of a wide range of domestic and commercial building technology projects across the UK. Typical building technology concepts comprise of lighting control, façade control and HVAC control, and ultimately making these elements available to end users through devices such as GUI’s on PC’s, tablets and smartphones.

Given the specialist nature of the job it is not anticipated that you will have any sort of experience or skills within the building technologies industry. All relevant training will be provided. However it is highly anticipated that you will have a basic level of understanding of concepts such as binary, decimal and hexadecimal, XML, IP addressing, computer components and programming concepts. Knowledge of electrical systems is also desirable, but not essential. An ability to think logically, communicate clearly, troubleshoot efficiently and manage time, people and yourself is essential to this role.

Abtec Building Technologies have worked on a number of high profile projects across the UK since forming in 2010. You will be joining a small team that already consists of a number of graduates and will get to travel across the country visiting project sites and clients as part of your role.

Salary

£25,000 to £35,000 dependant on experience, with considerable opportunity for progression subject to continued professional development. Paid overtime, laptop, mobile phone, expenses and fixed profit car scheme.

Hours

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 with half an hour for lunch. Working away can regularly lead to working and travel time outside of these hours, and maintenance calls can sometimes lead to weekend work. Hours worked outside the normal working hours are typically reimbursed through overtime or may be taken as time in lieu.

Additional Information

This is a full time, permanent job.

Paid holiday entitlement is 28 days per calendar year, increasing by 1 extra day for each full year worked with the company up to a maximum of 5 extra days.

A full UK Driving License and full time access to a car is required.

Abtec Building Technologies work on a number of education and government projects, and so employees may be subjected to a DBS check in accordance with the requirements to work on these sites.
