C.E.L Group (1989) Ltd is a family-run principal contractor specialising in the conservation, restoration and refurbishment of historic and listed buildings throughout the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Stonemason to join our in-house masonry team working on prestigious heritage and conservation projects nationwide.
The Role
This is primarily a site-based role carrying out fixing, restoration and conservation masonry works. The successful candidate will also possess banker masonry skills and be capable of producing and adapting stonework where required.
Typical duties will include:
- Fixing new and replacement stonework.
- Carrying out indent repairs and stone replacements.
- Lime mortaring, lime putty pointing and repointing works.
- Flint wall repairs, rebuilding and conservation works.
- Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
- Setting out masonry works.
- Producing and adapting stonework using banker masonry techniques when required.
- Working with limestone, sandstone, flint and other traditional building materials.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, quality and health and safety.
Our projects regularly include churches, historic buildings, listed properties, civic buildings and other heritage assets throughout the UK.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Stonemason / Fixer Mason.
- Ability to carry out masonry repairs and replacement works to a high standard.
- Competent banker masonry skills.
- Experience working with lime mortars.
- Ability to read drawings and work independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and stay away when required.
Desirable
- Experience working on listed buildings, churches and heritage projects.
- Experience with flint walling works.
- Experience using lime putty mortars and traditional conservation techniques.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Stonemasonry.
