We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Employment Placement Officer to support the delivery of the Communities for Work Plus (CfW+) project in Newport, as part of the Work & Skills Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting unemployed and economically inactive residents to move closer to, and into, sustainable employment. You will work directly with local employers, partners, and participants to identify opportunities and deliver positive outcomes aligned to CfW+ priorities.

The successful candidate will develop strong employer relationships, identify job and training opportunities, and support participants throughout their journey into work.

A strong understanding of employability programmes, excellent communication and engagement skills, and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain effective relationships with local employers, sole traders, and organisations to source vacancies, placements, and training opportunities aligned to CfW+.

Promote the CfW+ programme, its services, and the benefits of recruiting participants through outreach and engagement activities.

Identify suitable employment opportunities and match participants in collaboration with advisors, mentors, and wider delivery teams.

Provide ongoing in-work support and mentoring to participants to ensure sustained and meaningful employment outcomes.

Liaise with employers and participants during placements and post-employment to support retention and progression.

Work in partnership with internal teams, DWP, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective delivery of CfW+.

Maintain accurate records, gather evidence of outcomes, and contribute to reporting and compliance requirements.

Support wider employability activity including referrals, engagement events, and programme development across the Work & Skills service.

Communicate effectively with employers and CFW+ staff to ensure relevant training pathways are created that meet the needs of employers and participants.

The successful post holder will be expected to work flexibly, use their initiative, and provide a high-quality, customer-focused service within a target-driven environment.
