Packing Team Leader

Reports to: Production Shift Manager

: Packing operatives. You are responsible for all the packing areas such as Freezer packing, Ciabatta packing, bread slicing and all flow wrapping products. Operating and coordinating your team to work with a Quality focus and continuous improvement mindset to streamline a growing operation.

Overall objectives

Effective Supervision of both the Packing Team and the production of products, by ensuring that all Legal, Food Safety, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Technical and Engineering requirements are maintained in accordance with statutory and customer requirements. To ensure your training is kept up to date, you are fully aware of how to run your line or areas of responsibility and indirect subordinates as required. Report any training or performance issue to the Factory Manager.

Accountabilities

To ensure Panificio Italiano (PI) food safety and quality objectives are always met.
To deputise for the Production Shift Manager when required.
To ensure that Health and Safety is managed effectively in their area of responsibility, by means of Audits, toolkits, safe systems of work, risk assessments and support from the H&S Manager and Factory Managers.
To produce products of the highest quality by ensuring that all quality and food safety procedures are adhered too. Report all issues to Production Shift Manager or Operations Manager.
To ensure that Packing Team Members are effectively deployed throughout the bakery as directed by the Production Shift manager.
To manage your area of responsibility to the highest standard and monitor other areas if a supervisor is either away from that area or off work.
To develop your team, multi skill and create a succession plan within your team
To insist that safe systems of work are followed and reported if not adhered to.
Develop direct reports by sharing your knowledge and experience.
This job description is intended to be an indication of the scope of the role. In addition to these functions, you are required to perform such other duties as may reasonably be required according to the needs of the business.

Previous experience in food Manufacturing
Packing and flow wrapping experience is preferred
