Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative

About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our busy electrical wholesale branch. This is a varied role that combines customer deliveries with warehouse duties and trade counter support.
The successful candidate will be customer-focused, organised and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and attention to detail are essential, as priorities can change throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver goods safely and efficiently to customers within agreed timescales.
- Complete up to 40 deliveries per day, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
- Follow planned delivery routes accurately and communicate any delays or issues promptly.
- Obtain and maintain accurate delivery records and POD documentation using handheld devices.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure company vehicles are clean, roadworthy and adequately fuelled.
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with stock checks and general warehouse duties.
- Support the trade counter and assist customers when required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet the demands of a busy branch.
- Adapt to changing priorities and assist in all aspects of the branch operation as required.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous driving experience.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy and confidence using handheld devices.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving products safely.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within an electrical wholesaler, builders' merchant or similar trade environment.
- Trade counter experience.
- Forklift licence (although training may be provided for the right candidate).
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:30pm
- Saturday: 8:00am – 11:00am (alternate Saturdays)
