Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Bench Joiner/Wood Machinist to join our team. This role involves working with timber and other materials to produce high-quality joinery components and furniture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and fabrication, with experience in using various hand and power tools. Duties
- Operating woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, and lathes to cut, shape, and assemble timber components
- Fabricating customised joinery pieces according to technical drawings and specifications
- Assembling furniture or structural elements with attention to detail and quality standards
- Using hand tools for fine finishing work, fitting, and adjustments
- Assisting with the installation of joinery products on-site when required
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
- Performing heavy lifting of timber and materials safely during production processes
- Assisting with additional construction tasks such as roofing, plumbing, masonry, or electrical work if needed
Skills
- Proven experience in fabrication, assembly, and carpentry
- Proficiency with hand tools such as chisels, planes, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
- Competence in operating power tools including saws, drills, sanders, and routers
- Strong understanding of joinery techniques and woodworking principles
- Knowledge of roofing, construction painting, plumbing, masonry or electrical experience is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to undertake heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Organised with excellent attention to detail to ensure precise craftsmanship
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
