We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Area Ranger to join our team in North Pembrokeshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in restoring nature at scale across one of the UK’s most spectacular landscapes. You will lead delivery across a defined area, working with tenants, graziers and partners to create resilient, nature-rich landscapes for wildlife, climate and people. You will have a passion for conservation, experience of land management, and the ability to build strong relationships to achieve shared outcomes.
Salary: £31,000 per annum
Contract Duration: Permanent
Working Pattern: You will work 37.5 hours per week. This will include on on-call duties as part of a rota, and occasional evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work. We recognise the importance of flexible working, and will support this wherever possible.

What you'll be doing:You will play a key role within the North Pembrokeshire ranger team, reporting to the Restore Nature Delivery Manager – Operations.
Your primary focus will be acting as the area lead for a group of National Trust sites, including tenanted and licensed farms. You will build strong relationships with tenants, graziers and local communities, supporting nature-friendly land management and ensuring high standards of compliance and safety.
You will plan and deliver conservation work that contributes to landscape-scale nature recovery, including developing work programmes, managing contractors and budgets, and identifying opportunities for habitat restoration.
A key part of the role will be coordinating ecological monitoring across your area, working with specialists and volunteers to gather evidence and inform management decisions.
You will also support wider countryside management, including working with volunteers, assisting with livestock operations when required, and helping communicate conservation work through engagement activities.

Who we're looking forTo deliver this role successfully, you will need to have:
- Practical experience of land management across a variety of habitats such as farmland, grassland, heathland or coastal environments
- Good understanding of nature-friendly farming systems and experience of working with farmers, graziers or land managers
- Experience of planning and delivering conservation work, including managing projects, contractors and budgets
- Experience of ecological monitoring and/or habitat and species surveys, with good field identification skills across a range of habitats and species
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver work programmes effectively
- Competent IT skills, including experience of using GIS mapping tools and digital systems to support planning, monitoring and land management
- Experience of working with volunteers and community groups.
- A full UK driving licence
