We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified or developing Health and Safety professional to join our friendly and highly regarded Corporate Health and Safety Team on a 12-month fixed term basis or as a secondment opportunity.

This role is ideal for someone who holds a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or is willing to work towards this qualification; and is passionate about influencing positive health and safety outcomes across a large, diverse organisation.
What you will be doing:
You’ll provide professional advice, guidance and support across a range of service areas, ensuring practical and effective health and safety management.
Your daily routine will include:
- Providing information, advice and guidance on health and safety matters
- Carrying out health and safety audits, inspections and safety tours
- Investigating workplace accidents, incidents and near misses
- Advising on risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Preparing and presenting health and safety reports to meetings and committees
- Working collaboratively with managers, stakeholders and trade unions
While you may focus on specific areas such as Education, Lifelong Learning, Social Services, you will also contribute to work across other Directorates — offering excellent variety and exposure.
About you:
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, approachable and keen to make a real difference.
You’ll ideally have:
- A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or be actively working towards this qualification
- Experience working as a Health and Safety practitioner within a complex or multi‑disciplinary organisation
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and effective safety management practices
- Experience of conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations
- The ability to provide clear, practical advice to managers and employees
- Confidence presenting information at meetings, committees or forums
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using standard IT systems (e.g. Microsoft applications)
