Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced HGV2 lorry driver/yardman to join our team. This role involves operating heavy goods vehicles, managing yard duties, and supporting logistical operations across our premises. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities to ensure smooth and efficient delivery and yard management.
Duties
- Safely operate HGV2 lorries for the transportation of goods to various locations.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods using appropriate equipment, including flatbeds.
- Manage yard activities such as organising stock, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Support warehouse operations by preparing deliveries, organising storage areas, and assisting colleagues as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit or yard activities.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and yard activities.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with HGV or similar large vehicles.
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a warehouse environment is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with flatbed transport operations is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
- Valid <PERSON> driver’s licence is essential for this role.
- Experience in warehouse handling or yard management will be considered an asset.
