Transport Connections is recruiting reliable and caring Passenger Assistants to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) travelling to and from school safely for SANDWELL COUNCIL.
You will work on contracted home-to-school transport services alongside a Driver, ensuring passengers are safe, comfortable and supported throughout their journey.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist children boarding and leaving the vehicle safely
* Ensure seatbelts, harnesses and specialist equipment are correctly used
* Support passengers with additional needs during journeys
* Maintain a calm, safe and positive environment
* Follow safeguarding, child protection and health & safety procedures
* Report incidents, concerns or behavioural issues appropriately
* Communicate professionally with drivers, parents/carers and schools
Essential Requirements
* Must be aged 18 or over
* Must have lived in the UK continuously for a minimum of 5 years
* Must be able to speak and understand fluent English
* Must be able to pass an Enhanced DBS check covering children and adults
* Caring, patient and reliable attitude
* Ability to work with vulnerable children and young people
Training Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to complete:
* TAS Passenger Assistant Training (TASPATS)
* Level 1 Safeguarding & Child Protection Training
* Child Exploitation Awareness Training
* Disability Awareness & Safe Evacuation Procedures
