Full job description

Transport Connections is looking for professional, reliable and caring PSV Drivers to join our growing team providing home-to-school transport services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Drivers will work on contracted school transport routes, ensuring passengers are transported safely, comfortably and on time.

Main Responsibilities

* Safely transport SEND passengers to and from school

* Carry out daily vehicle safety and defect checks

* Ensure all passengers are secured safely during journeys

* Work closely with Passenger Assistants and schools

* Maintain a calm, professional and caring approach at all times

* Follow safeguarding, health & safety and council transport procedures

* Report incidents, accidents or concerns appropriately

Essential Requirements

* Full UK PSV Licence (Category D or D1)

* Valid Driver CPC qualification

* Must have lived in the UK continuously for a minimum of 5 years

* Must be aged 21 or over

* Good spoken and written English

* Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check covering children and adults

* Good driving record and professional attitude

Preferred Experience

* Previous experience working with SEND passengers or school transport

* Knowledge of wheelchair accessible vehicles and passenger safety equipment

* Understanding of safeguarding and disability awareness

Mandatory Training

Successful applicants may be required to complete:

* Safeguarding & Child Protection Training

* Disability Awareness Training

* Emergency Evacuation Procedures

* SEND Passenger Care Training

These requirements are in line with local authority Travel Assistance Service standards for SEND transport contracts.
