Job title: Phlebotomist / Healthcare Assistant and Receptionist

Tuesday 08:30 – 14:00
Wednesday 16:00 - 19:00

Salary: £13.00
You will deliver safe, compassionate phlebotomy while providing wider clinical, reception and administrative support in our private outpatient clinic. As part of a small, highly skilled team you will also act as a trained chaperone, help open and close the premises, and show real enthusiasm for learning new skills (e.g. ECGs, point-of-care testing).
Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy & Clinical Care – Perform venepuncture/capillary sampling to ISO 15189 standards; label, package and log specimens; monitor patients post-procedure and manage any adverse reaction.
- Ophthalmic Assistant - Training to take vision and Ophthalmic scans (training in post)
- Chaperone –Provide professional chaperone support during intimate examinations and minor procedures in line with GMC guidance and safeguarding policy.
- Reception & Administration -Welcome patients, verify ID, book appointments, answer calls/emails, process payments and update electronic patient records (EPR) accurately and confidentially.
- Opening / Closing – Unlock and prepare clinical areas each morning; complete daily safety and equipment checks. At close, secure medications, activate alarms and lock the building.
- Infection Prevention & Safety –Maintain aseptic technique, manage sharps, restock clinical rooms and report hazards/near-misses in accordance with COSHH, RIDDOR and clinic SOPs.
- Team Support & Development –Assist with basic observations (BP, pulse, ECGs), stock control and audit tasks; complete mandatory training (BLS, Safeguarding, IPC, Fire) and pursue further CPD as required.
Qualifications & Experience;
- Accredited NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Phlebotomy and current Basic Life Support certificate.
- Minimum 12 months’ recent phlebotomy in a clinical or private-healthcare setting.
- Confident with computerised patient-management systems and routine admin / cash-handling.
- Sound knowledge of infection-control, health-and-safety and data-protection legislation.
- Excellent communication, customer-service skills and flexibility to cover early/late shifts.
- Advantageous: experience in private diagnostics, paediatric sampling, point-of-care testing or stock management.
