Full job description

Are you highly organised, quick and accurate — but also warm, approachable and great with people?

Wimbledon School of English is looking for an experienced Accommodation Manager to lead our student accommodation service.

This is a busy, varied and people-focused role. You will be responsible for making international students feel safe, supported and at home while studying in London.

We need someone who can manage detailed administration accurately, respond quickly when plans change and build strong relationships with students, homestay hosts, accommodation providers and colleagues.

You will be calm under pressure, confident making decisions and naturally friendly and professional.

Wimbledon School of English has been teaching international students for more than 60 years and has an excellent reputation for quality, student care and academic standards.

Our students come from all over the world, making WSE a welcoming, lively and genuinely international place to work.

What you will be doing

You will manage the school’s accommodation service and make sure students receive a smooth, friendly and professional experience.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Placing students quickly and accurately in suitable accommodation.
Managing homestays, student houses, residences and other accommodation options.
Recruiting, visiting and supporting homestay hosts.
Maintaining a reliable supply of accommodation throughout the year.
Responding promptly to student, host and agent enquiries.
Monitoring accommodation standards and resolving concerns or complaints.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records, contracts and compliance documents.
Managing DBS checks for eligible household members.
Coordinating individual and group airport transfers.
Supporting student welfare, safeguarding and child protection.
Managing and supporting the Accommodation Officer and relevant residence staff.
Liaising with colleagues, including the Accounts, Groups and Student Services teams.
Responsible for and taking part in the school’s emergency telephone rota.

The role also involves some accommodation visits outside normal working hours and local travel when necessary.

Excellent customer service skills.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Clear and confident written and spoken communication.
Experience of working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
Strong IT skills and confidence using databases and office systems.
Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
The ability to prioritise and make practical decisions.

The confidence to work independently and take responsibility.
Tact, discretion and good professional judgement.
A friendly and collaborative approach to teamwork.

Additional requirements

Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience.
Good knowledge of Wimbledon and the surrounding area.
Full driving licence.
Willingness to travel locally for accommodation visits.
Willingness to manage and take part in the emergency phone rota.
Willingness to undertake occasional visits outside normal working hours.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required.
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

Working hours
