We are looking for an organised and proactive Legal Assistant to join our Commercial Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous legal administration experience who enjoys working in a busy, client-focused environment and wants to be part of a supportive and professional team.
The Role
As a Legal Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting fee earners and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department. You will be responsible for providing high-quality administrative support while helping to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a first point of contact for clients and other enquiries, ensuring a professional and welcoming experience.
- Opening, maintaining and closing legal files in accordance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Managing correspondence, documentation and case files to a high standard.
- Coordinating appointments, meetings and related logistics.
- Providing administrative support to fee earners across a range of commercial property matters.
- Audio typing and transcribing correspondence, legal documents, attendance notes and other documentation from digital dictation.
- Drafting letters and other routine documentation.
- Communicating with clients and third parties, providing updates and assisting with enquiries.
- Supporting billing processes and handling monies received as directed.
- Assisting with archiving, file retrieval and general office administration.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of administrative processes and supporting colleagues where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
Essential
- Previous experience in a legal assistant, legal secretary or similar administrative role within a law firm or legal department.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Accurate and efficient audio typing and digital dictation skills.
- A high level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
Desirable
- Experience working within a commercial property, residential conveyancing or wider property law team.
- Experience using legal case management systems.
- A legal secretarial qualification or business/administration qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Knowledge of property law processes.
