About Us John Cribb & Sons Ltd is an established, independent Electrical Wholesaler with approximately 50 staff. We operate an 11-branch network across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, and the Isle of Wight. We are looking for a proactive, organized HR professional to support our network. This role suits someone who takes true ownership, identifies what needs doing, and keeps processes moving without waiting for instruction. A commercially minded approach is vital — you will understand how tight HR and compliance processes directly support branch performance and business resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment Management: Own end-to-end recruitment across all 11 branches and head office. This includes drafting and placing adverts, screening applicants, and where required conducting first-stage interviews via Teams or face-to-face to shortlist candidates for Branch Managers or Directors.
- Workforce Planning: Maintain a clear overview of vacancies and recruitment progress across the network, proactively flagging branches at risk of being understaffed.
- HR Administration: Manage day-to-day onboarding, employee records, absence tracking, and training coordination (familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint is highly desirable).
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure each branch maintains up-to-date H&S policies, risk assessments, and training records. You will confidently chase branch managers where actions are overdue and coordinate with external H&S specialists.
- Fleet Coordination: Review fleet telematics reports periodically and flag driver behavior concerns (such as speeding) to branch managers for swift action.
- Facilities & Operations: Coordinate general building maintenance scheduling and provide administrative support for employee relations matters.
- Reporting: Prepare concise HR, H&S, and compliance updates directly for the Directors.
- Branch Visits: Undertake occasional visits to our regional branches when required.
Requirements & Experience
- Proven experience in an HR Admin, HR Officer, or Recruitment coordination role.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multi-site processes independently.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and chase managers for compliance data.
- An eye for detail, whether auditing employee files, H&S spreadsheets, or fleet telematics data.
- A valid UK driving license for occasional branch visits.
- Experience in trade, wholesale, retail, or logistics environments is an advantage but not essential.
