Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior IT Technician to join our dynamic IT support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting complex computer systems, networks, and hardware to ensure optimal operational efficiency. Duties
- Manage and support computer networks including LAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP, and firewall configurations to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
- Provide advanced desktop support across various operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently.
- Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory services, and utilise SCCM for system management and deployment.
- Troubleshoot software issues related to Microsoft Office applications, specialised enterprise software, and other business-critical programmes.
- Support server infrastructure including BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira, and analyse system logs to identify potential issues proactively.
- Maintain and configure network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls; monitor network performance to prevent outages.
- Conduct regular system updates, patches, backups, and disaster recovery procedures to uphold security standards.
- Assist with help desk tickets by providing timely technical support via remote or on-site assistance while maintaining high levels of customer service.
- Document technical procedures and solutions clearly in ticketing systems; contribute to knowledge bases for team use.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals on projects involving system upgrades or migrations; provide mentorship to junior technicians.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior IT support or technician role with comprehensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture.
- Strong proficiency in desktop support for Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory management, DNS configuration, TCP/IP protocols, VPN setup, firewall management, SCCM deployment tools, and operating system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with enterprise tools such as BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira for incident management and workflow automation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with strong analysis skills; capable of diagnosing complex hardware/software issues efficiently.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Cisco CCNA are desirable but not essential.

Pay: £31,000.00-£39,745.42 per year
