Job Description:
As part of our recent expansion, we are looking for a talented and dedicated Behaviour Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will engage with a variety of dogs and their owners, helping to strengthen bonds and encourage positive behaviours. If you have relevant experience and a passion for working with both dogs and people, this opportunity is ideal for you.
Duties:
- Conduct one-on-one and group training sessions for dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes
- Training Dogs on-site (residential training)
- Effectively assess dog behaviour and develop tailored training plans
- Teach basic/advanced obedience commands
- Confidently address specific behavioural issues
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desirable behaviours and discourage undesirable ones
- Provide guidance and support to dog owners throughout the training process
- Stay up-to-date with the latest training methods and techniques
- Maintain a clean and safe training environment for both dogs and humans
- Proven administrative experience
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of and experience in a commercial kennel setting
- Proficiency in computer skills is preferred
- Excellent communication skills for answering phone calls, processing bookings, and interacting with clients
- Strong time management and punctuality
Qualifications: Animal Care, qualified behaviourist, canine behaviourist, animal behaviourist, APDT, ABTC, CCAB, PAST, IPG, PSA
- Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in dog training.
- Extensive knowledge of canine behaviour and various training methodologies.
- Preferred experience in professional settings such as dog training facilities, canine sports (e.g., PSA, IPG, agility), behaviour training centres, detection, or security, military, police, border force, or medical dogs.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills for effectively interacting with dog owners.
- Proven ability to safely and confidently handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors with dogs in various conditions.
