Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to diverse projects within a dynamic organisation committed to excellence in the construction industry. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction processes and cost control measures.
Ideally based within easy reach of Birmingham or Warrington.
Duties
- Analyse project plans, specifications, and tender documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to gather relevant information and clarify project requirements
- Prepare detailed bids and proposals, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Conduct market research to ensure competitive pricing and identify potential cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor project budgets throughout the construction process and provide updates as necessary
- Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate financial impacts
- Maintain organised records of all estimates, contracts, and related documentation for future reference
- Assist in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favourable terms
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant regulations, standards, and client specifications
Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost control techniques
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in estimating software programmes and Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
- Ability to analyse complex data accurately and present clear reports
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to construction sites is desirable
