We’re currently recruiting a Project Manager-Stock Condition to join us on a fixed‑term maternity cover, delivering high‑quality stock condition programmes for our clients. We are looking for someone with an appetite to support social housing providers to understand and invest in their homes and the wellbeing of their tenants.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of stock condition surveying projects to our clients, through effective planning and management.
You will be expected to ensure that projects are delivered to specification, within the established time frame and to budget.
You must be committed to developing your expertise in relation to building and stock condition surveying (e.g. by becoming a qualified DEA and Retrofit Assessor).
In addition, you will be responsible for supporting the department’s growth through the training of new recruits and associates. In conjunction with the Head of Surveying Services, Operations Manager SCS and our Hub Team, you will ensure that all client works are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and to the highest level of quality.
With the support of the wider organisation, you will be expected to continue to develop their competencies and areas of expertise, to ensure client confidence and to continue to grow the service offering, in line with building safety guidance and regulations.
- You will assist the Head of Surveying Services and Operations Manager Surveying by providing a significant contribution to the operational and commercial performance of the surveying services team.
- You will be responsible for the day to day delivery of projects as outlined in the technical requirements section above, supporting the Head of Surveying Services and Operations Manager Surveying, assuming responsibility for the Technical Support Team and field based surveyors.
- Focus will be on successful establishment, delivery and closure of projects, ensuring both client, business and end user needs are met.
Responsibilities include:
- Operational Performance – you will ensure the achievement of all agreed quality standards to support the delivery of key business objectives, service plan objectives and contractual obligations with all clients.
- Commercial Performance – you will contribute to the achievement of all agreed financial performance targets (turnover, gross profit and net profit) through the achievement of agreed productivity targets for you and you’re team of associates.
- Project Planning – you will contribute to the planning and development of projects. This involves activities such as assisting the Head of Surveying Services and Operations Manager Surveying and other colleagues with gathering information required to prepare estimates and attending client meetings.
- Site Visits – you may be required to carry out site visits from time to time, to gather the information required to contribute to different phases of the individual projects.
- Interpreting Documentation – you will be expected to utilise various compliance/regulatory documents, to act as an expert for clients, identifying areas of non-compliance and offering advice to achieve the required compliance.
- Project Management – you will be expected to contribute to the coordination and management of projects, and to keep track and report project progress and attend site as and when required
- Customer Relationship Management – you will foster positive, productive and long-lasting relationships with each of your delegated client accounts. You will provide an operational point of client contact. As a result, you will have responsibility for providing advice to these clients on all aspects of surveying and for management of the relationship and contract that exists with these clients, by instigating regular contact with these clients.
- Health & Safety – you will embed a strong health and safety culture within your projects through appropriate induction, risk assessments, and mobilisation briefings. You will also ensure all aspects of our health and safety framework are implemented and adhered to.
- Quality Assurance – you will take part in our robust validation processes and instil a compliance culture within our surveying projects. You will undertake the quality assurance audits of the Technical Support Team and Associate surveyors to support our approach to quality control and ensure that learning is applied and embedded from validation results.
- Training – as part of your personal development you will be expected to complete tasks assigned by the Operations Manager Surveying, such as training recruits and associate surveyors, as well as adhering to and achieving you’re development pathway
Day to day duties may include:
- Managing stock condition surveys projects for our clients. These projects could include one or more of the following; field based stock condition surveys, energy performance assessments, floor plans and retrofit assessments.
- Being involved in the mobilisation and set-up of all SCS projects with clients.
- Sourcing stock condition surveyors for all projects, either from our existing pool of surveyors, or by recruiting new surveyors as required.
- Involvement in the set-up of all stock condition projects, including the database configuration/template to be used for data collection; and the collection, analysis and validation of the data and photographs produced as part of the surveys.
- Developing your expertise on our Safety Culture data capture system and other asset management systems.
- Developing your expertise on our workflow platform SimPro.
- All field based work will be carried out by our team of internal and external associate surveyors. Your role will be to project manage delivery and then ensure we produce the require reports and outputs for our clients on a monthly basis.

A background in building surveying and/or knowledge of the social housing sector, as well as previous project management experience or qualification would be advantageous.
