Support Technician – Integrated Design Services

About the role
As a key member of the Integrated Design Services (IDS) team, the Support Technician plays a vital role in enabling the successful delivery of capital investment programmes across all regions. Reporting to the General Engineer, the role supports the coordination and execution of design activities, ensuring outputs are high-quality, compliant, and aligned with Northumbrian Water’s strategic objectives.
The Support Technician is responsible for maintaining the area delivery programme using MS Project, tracking resource utilisation, plan attainment, and value delivered. You will develop project task plans aligned with lifecycle stages, and coordinate time, resource, and cost allocations with team and project managers. You will provide regular performance data to support resource utilisation, expenditure forecasting, and delivery tracking.
The Support Technician will assist in the preparation and coordination of design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports and also support the retrieval and organisation of Pre-Construction Information (PCI) to enable effective site surveys and design development.
About you
If you have experience supporting design or engineering teams in a technical environment, we would love to hear from you!
You will be proficient in producing and interpreting technical documentation and CAD drawings to support design and delivery activities,and be familiar with CDM regulations and health & safety requirements in design activities. You will have experience in maintaining and updating programmes of work in MS project (or equivalent), with a focus on tracking progress and resource utilisation.
You will have strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. You will have a relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering, Design, or related discipline).

Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment. A full UK Driving License is required for this role.
