Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pipe Layer / Groundworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying underground pipes and assisting with ground preparation tasks on various civil engineering projects. This role requires a practical approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a dynamic environment. Prior experience with excavation, mechanical, electrical, and welding tasks is highly desirable. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a supportive team.

Responsibilities

Lay underground pipes according to project specifications and safety standards
Operate excavation equipment such as excavators to dig trenches and prepare ground surfaces
Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, shaping, and installing pipes and related components
Assist with site preparation, including levelling and compacting ground surfaces
Perform welding tasks where necessary to join pipe sections or repair components
Conduct basic electrical work related to site infrastructure as required
Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all safety protocols are followed
Assist with the installation of mechanical systems associated with piping infrastructure
Support team members in completing projects efficiently and effectively

Experience

Previous experience working as a Pipe Layer or Groundworker on civil or construction sites is preferred
Proficiency in operating excavators and other heavy machinery such as lorries or loaders is advantageous
Knowledge of welding techniques and the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment confidently
Basic electrical knowledge relevant to site infrastructure is desirable
Familiarity with health and safety regulations within construction environments
Mechanical knowledge combined with practical experience in pipe installation or groundworks will be highly regarded
