We are seeking a practical, hands-on Health & Safety Manager to support our manufacturing operations in Bridlington.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor, Coordinator, or Manager looking for a flexible part-time role. The position will focus on maintaining and improving health and safety standards across our manufacturing facility, working closely with employees and managers to promote a positive safety culture.

The successful candidate will be highly visible on the shop floor, providing guidance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring that health and safety remain a key priority throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out regular workplace inspections and safety audits.
Review and maintain risk assessments, safe working procedures, and related documentation.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
Management of contractors (issuing of hot work permits etc) fire safety (evacuations, alarm testing etc), environmental responsibility and emergency planning.
Deliver toolbox talks and health and safety briefings.
Support managers and supervisors in implementing safe working practices.
Monitor compliance with company policies and relevant health and safety legislation.
Assist with the induction and ongoing training of employees.
Maintain accurate health and safety records and reports.
Coordinate corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
Support continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing workplace risks and improving overall safety performance.

About You

We are looking for someone who is approachable, proactive, and comfortable working closely with employees across all areas of the business.

You will ideally have:

Essential

Previous experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing, engineering, production, or industrial environment.
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent qualification).
Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice.
Experience conducting risk assessments and workplace inspections.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

IOSH membership.
Experience delivering health and safety training or toolbox talks.
Experience supporting internal or external audits.
First Aid at Work qualification.
Experience with continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
