Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in various manufacturing processes, including plastics injection moulding and assembly. The successful applicant will play a vital part in ensuring precision and efficiency in our production operations.

Duties

Develop and optimise CNC programmes using CAD software such as SolidWorks, ensuring accurate machining processes.
Set up CNC machines, including loading tooling and fixtures, to prepare for production runs.
Operate CNC milling and grinding machines, maintaining strict adherence to specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to minimise downtime.
Utilise hand tools and power tools for assembly, tooling adjustments, and minor repairs.
Apply basic maths skills for measurements, tolerances, and calculations related to machining processes.
Collaborate with the engineering team on design modifications and improvements.
Ensure safety standards are maintained during all operations, including welding when necessary.
Assist in plastics injection moulding processes as required, supporting overall production efficiency.

Requirements

Proven experience with CNC programming and operation, particularly in milling or grinding applications.
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks; experience with CAM software is advantageous.
Mechanical knowledge of machinery, tooling, and manufacturing processes including plastics injection moulding.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and assembly procedures.
Strong understanding of basic maths principles relevant to machining tolerances and measurements.
Knowledge of tooling setup and maintenance to optimise machine performance.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently within tight tolerances while maintaining safety standards.
Prior experience working with plastics or injection moulding is desirable but not essential. This position offers an engaging environment for those passionate about precision manufacturing and mechanical engineering within a dynamic team setting.

Pay: £13.37-£21.40 per hour
