Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will support the head chef in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in a professional restaurant environment.

Duties

Assist in food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients and maintaining mise en place
Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed during food handling and preparation
Help with kitchen organisation, including cleaning, sanitising work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
Contribute to maintaining stock levels by assisting with inventory checks and replenishing supplies
Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure timely delivery of orders
Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes
Assist with plating and presentation of meals to meet presentation standards

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen or restaurant setting
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
Knowledge of culinary techniques and meal preparation processes
Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is desirable but not essential
Ability to serve customers courteously when required

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about culinary arts who are eager to learn and grow within a professional kitchen setting. All positions are paid, offering valuable hands-on experience in a vibrant hospitality environment.
