Full job description

We are looking for an Apprentice Business Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3 to join our team. The role will primarily support the Accounts Department, while also gaining exposure to wider operational and customer service functions. This position offers excellent training and development opportunities to build a strong foundation.

Accounts & Finance Support

· Loading and processing supplier invoices accurately onto Sage 50

· Matching purchase invoices to purchase orders to ensure correct processing

· Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies

· Chasing missing invoices, credit notes, and supporting documentation

· Maintaining accurate and up-to-date account records

· Assisting with the setup of new accounts

· Supporting credit control administration, including account queries and updates

· Assisting with month-end preparation tasks

· Maintaining organised electronic filing systems

Customer Service & Cross-Department Support

· Assisting with the setup of new customer accounts, ensuring all account opening documentation is completed accurately and maintained in line with company customer onboarding procedures

· Gaining knowledge of the company's order management system and the end-to-end order process

· Developing an understanding of telephone handling procedures to provide support during busy periods or staff absences

· Learning the fundamentals of waste management service bookings, order processing, and customer requirements

All tasks should be carried out to a high and accurate standard by using our accounts system Sage 50, and our ordering system Waste Logics.

General Responsibilities

Carry out a wide range of tasks appropriate to your skill level and training
Always work accurately and to a high standard
Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Follow all company policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
Represent the values and ethos of Site Management Services (Central) Ltd
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role

Person Specification

Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4–9 / A–C), including Maths and English
Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills
Positive, hardworking, friendly, and proactive attitude
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
