Are you a compassionate and resilient teacher with a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning? Join SV Education, where every lesson you deliver helps change a life.
We’re seeking a dedicated and adaptable Class Teacher to work within our residential care setting, providing tailored education to children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is more than a teaching role – it’s a chance to make a lasting difference.
About Us:
At SV Care Services Ltd, we provide safe, therapeutic residential homes for children aged 7-17, who have experienced trauma, neglect, or adverse childhood experiences. We have homes with on-site education for secondary children in KS3 and KS4. This plays a vital role in helping each young person re-engage with learning in a way that works for them.
We will combine structure, patience, and creativity to build trust, encourage personal growth, and support every child to realise their potential – educationally, emotionally, and socially.
The Role:
As our Class Teacher, you’ll work with a small number of pupils (maximum of 4) across KS3 and KS4, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to each child’s needs, with learning support assistance. You'll help build their confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with learning – often for the first time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualised lessons across core and foundation subjects - including English and Maths to GCSE and Functional Skills levels.
- To facilitate vocational learning through Asdans, AQA awards and BTECs.
- Deliver motivational class projects to build social skills, life skills and a love of learning.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support SEMH, EBD, and SEND needs.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with care staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
- Track progress, set realistic targets, and celebrate achievements.
- Promote personal, social, and emotional development alongside academic progress.
- Contribute to PEP and EHCP reviews and support safeguarding protocols.
About You:
- A Teaching Qualification is essential, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) is desirable.
- Experience working with children with SEMH, EBD, or within alternative provision is highly desirable.
- Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent.
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people who may be disengaged or vulnerable.
- A trauma-informed approach and understanding of attachment-aware practice.
- Creative, flexible, and reflective in your teaching style.
What We Offer:
- Small class sizes and strong staff-to-student ratios, enabling a strong work-life balance.
- Supportive, trauma-informed team environment.
- CPD opportunities focused on SEND, therapeutic approaches, and alternative education.
- A real sense of purpose and the opportunity to make a life-changing impact.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunity to work alongside the Head of Education to further develop the curriculum (knowledge of curriculums across KS3-KS4).
Be the teacher they’ll never forget.
