Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dance Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all students, including those with disabilities. This role involves teaching various dance styles to children and individuals with special needs, ensuring that each student receives personalised attention and support.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging dance lessons tailored to the needs of students, including those with autism and other disabilities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and self-expression.
- Utilise effective communication skills to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Provide mentorship and support to students, helping them develop their dance skills as well as confidence.
- Assess student progress regularly and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to create a cohesive learning experience for all participants.
- Maintain a safe and organised studio space, ensuring that all equipment is in good condition.
- Hours of work will be Saturdays 8.45am till 3.30pm during term time.
- There will also be supporting shows and other events that LPA Shrewsbury perform in.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching dance, preferably to children or individuals with special needs.
- Strong background in special education or working with people with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to effectively engage with students of varying abilities.
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring is an asset.
- A genuine passion for dance and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
