Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals tailored to the needs of young children within a nursery setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in food preparation and culinary arts to contribute to the wellbeing and development of children through healthy, balanced meals. Prior experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is an advantage but not necessary ,along with a strong understanding of food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare and cook meals suitable for children, ensuring nutritional value and variety are maintained
Plan menus in accordance with dietary requirements and preferences of children
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all aspects of food preparation
Assist with the organisation of meal times, serving food in a manner that encourages positive eating habits
Monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage of ingredients and supplies
Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate specific dietary needs or allergies
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned regularly
Follow health and safety regulations at all times during food preparation and service

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a childcare, nursery, or similar environment
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to prepare nutritious meals that appeal to young children
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Good communication skills to work effectively with nursery staff and caregivers
Experience in meal planning and understanding dietary restrictions or allergies
A caring attitude with a focus on promoting healthy eating habits among children
