Job Description: Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
We're looking for a detail-oriented and supportive Internal Quality Assurer who is passionate about maintaining high standards in education and training. You'll play a key role in ensuring that assessment practices across our accredited programmes are fair, consistent and compliant, whilst supporting our assessors to deliver the best possible outcomes for learners.
About Animal Antiks Group
Animal Antiks Group is a Buckinghamshire-based organisation providing education, vocational training, and therapeutic support for young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We operate across three connected divisions:
· Animal Antiks: our farm-based vocational training hub
· Different Steps CIC: our accredited learning provider (ASDAN and City & Guilds qualifications)
· Animal Antiks Charity: therapeutic outdoor support for young people who need it most

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Education, the Internal Quality Assurer will be responsible for overseeing the quality and consistency of assessment practice across Animal Antiks' accredited programmes.
The successful candidate will act as an internal auditor of assessment activities, ensuring that assessment decisions meet awarding organisation requirements and that learners receive a fair, robust and high-quality experience. They will work closely with assessors and support the Head of Education in preparing for External Quality Assurance visits and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Quality Assurance
- Carry out internal quality assurance activities in accordance with awarding organisation requirements.
- Sample learner portfolios, assessment decisions and assessment records.
- Ensure assessment decisions are valid, reliable, fair and consistent.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date IQA documentation and records.
- Identify areas of good practice and areas requiring improvement.
- Monitor compliance with internal quality assurance procedures.
Assessor Support
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to assessors.
- Observe assessment practice where required.
- Support assessors in understanding and applying qualification standards.
- Contribute to standardisation activities to ensure consistency across programmes.
- Promote continuous improvement in assessment practice.
Compliance and Quality
- Support the Head of Education in preparing for External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits.
- Assist with the implementation of actions arising from EQA reports.
- Ensure compliance with awarding organisation requirements and relevant regulations.
- Contribute to quality improvement planning and self-assessment activities.
- Support the review and development of quality assurance procedures.
Learner Experience
- Help ensure learners receive fair and consistent assessment.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within all assessment and quality assurance activities.
- Support the maintenance of high standards across all accredited provisions.
General Responsibilities
- Work in accordance with Animal Antiks' policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Person Specification
Essential
· Experience working within education, training, vocational learning, apprenticeships or a quality assurance environment.
· Good understanding of assessment processes and quality standards.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies and areas for improvement.
· Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
· Ability to build positive working relationships and provide constructive feedback.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
· Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
· Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable
· Experience carrying out internal quality assurance, assessment, auditing or compliance activities.
· Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (or equivalent).
· Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).
· Experience of working within SEND, alternative provision or specialist education settings.
· Experience of preparing for or supporting External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits.
· Knowledge of awarding organisation requirements and vocational qualifications.
· Experience of work-based learning, employability programmes or supported internships.
