Job Introduction

The salary range for this role is £54,636- £58,953 per annum based on working 36 hours per week. Please note whilst we operate a hybrid working model you will need to be office based at least 3 times a week then in line with the business needs at short notice when required. This is a qualified social work role, based at Victoria Gate our Woking office.

We also offer a financial package of up to £6,000 which is payable in 3 instalments across your first 18 months in post. Information about qualifying criteria to receive this payment can be found HERE.

Surrey Children’s Services are looking for a creative and experienced Team Manager with the drive, resilience to help lead our very busy Children’s Single Point of Access Team. This is a unique and fantastic opportunity for a passionate Social Work Qualified Team Manager to join us.

About the role

We are looking for a MAP Team Manager to lead, develop and professionally guide our multidisciplinary team. You will drive high-quality social work practice by ensuring timely assessments, purposeful interventions and robust safeguarding for children, young people and their families.

Through regular one-to-one and group supervision you will set clear expectations, challenge and support staff, and motivate the team to deliver outcome-focused services while upholding high professional standards and statutory compliance.

Other key activity for this role includes:

Leadership & Practice Development: Championing high standards of professional practice within the team and across the wider service.
Deputising for the Service Manager: Taking the lead when required, including managing duty rotas, allocating priority work, and providing expert guidance to team members.
Chairing Key Meetings: Leading a range of professional, statutory, and multi-agency meetings to drive collaborative outcomes.
Training & Representation: Supporting the development of best practice through training initiatives, represent the team on working groups, and build strong interagency relationships.

Your Application

We are looking for an experienced team manager with relevant experience in a busy frontline assessment service that can be demonstrated over a sustained period of time.

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills, experience and align with our behaviours:

A recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Substantial post-qualified UK social work experience, including experience in a busy frontline assessment service over a sustained period.
Proven experience of supervising others (e.g. students, practice educators, or qualified staff) and providing high-quality, emotionally intelligent supervision to support staff development.
Strong professional leadership skills, including driving practice improvement, making analytical decisions, and preparing clear, evidence-based reports.
Extensive knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and child development.
Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and addressing inequality.
Ability to evaluate complex information effectively and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
