About the Role
Vorboss is looking for a driven and proactive Civils Operative to join our in-house Civils team in a permanent position. The Civils Operative will join the exciting team at Vorboss to perform excavations, duct laying, duct repair and chamber construction and general street works activities within the Vorboss network. They will ensure they stick to guidelines and procedures and maintain high health and safety standards throughout.
Responsibilities
The Civils Operative responsibilities will consist of (pleasenote that this is not an exhaustive list):
- To ensure that the safety of colleagues and the public is at thecentre of everything you and the team do.
- Site setup including signage, lighting and guarding.
- Clearing blockages in existing duct infrastructure.
- Trenching and laying new duct.
- Excavating and installing new telecoms chambers.
- General groundworks and assisting with reinstatements whererequired
- Assisting as required with other street works activitiesincluding test, rodding and roping, subduct installs, and civils avoidance.
- A commitment to health and safety, including compliance withinternal policies and procedures, as well as the applicable regulations(NRSWA).
- Communicating back to the Civils Supervisor and office team onthe status of ongoing projects.
Right Candidate
Essential
- Full UK driver’s licence.
- Previous experience working on a Civils team or in Groundworks on and around utilities, with familiarity with all tools and equipment to undertake such works.
Desirable
- Relevant NRSWA certifications.
- Any PIA qualifications (Duct Blockages, Duct Laying, Box Building, General Operatives 1 and 2).
- Experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Reinstatement experience.
- Experience working on deep excavations.
- Excellent communication skills.
