Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cafe Cook to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals in a friendly café environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise culinary skills, ensure food safety standards are met, and contribute to delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal applicant will have previous kitchen experience and a keen eye for detail, ensuring every dish is prepared to the highest standard.

Duties

Prepare and cook a range of food items according to menu specifications and quality standards
Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, assembling, and portioning ingredients
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Ensure all food is stored correctly and rotation procedures are followed to minimise waste
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, and fryers
Monitor stock levels and notify management when supplies need replenishing
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
Serve food promptly to customers, ensuring presentation meets the café’s standards

Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen setting is highly desirable but you do not need to be a trained chef
Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene protocols (we will also give you training in Food Hygiene)
Experience with meal preparation in a busy café, school, or restaurant environment is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
