Credit Control Assistant

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Credit Control Assistant to join our friendly Finance team.

This is an entry-level position with full training provided, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a career in finance. You'll work closely with our Credit Manager, learning all aspects of Accounts Receivable and Credit Control while gaining valuable experience in a supportive team environment.

Our Finance team consists of eight people, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn, ask questions and develop your skills.

What You'll Be Doing

Supporting the day-to-day management of the sales ledger.
Contacting UK and international customers by telephone, email and letter to collect outstanding payments.
Building positive relationships with customers and internal teams.
Posting customer payments and allocating cash receipts.
Investigating and resolving invoice queries.
Assisting with raising credit notes for customer accounts, returns and disputes.
Setting up new customer accounts in line with company procedures.
Assisting with credit checks, reviewing payment histories and obtaining trade references.
Reconciling customer accounts.
Supporting payment plan arrangements under the guidance of the Credit Manager.
Helping ensure company credit policies and financial controls are followed.
Attending weekly debtor meetings.
Assisting with a variety of finance projects as required.

What We're Looking For

No previous Credit Control experience is necessary—we'll provide full training.

We're looking for someone who has:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English at Grade 5/C or above.
Confidence speaking to customers on the telephone.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Basic Microsoft Office and Excel skills, with an eagerness to develop further.
Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A proactive approach to solving problems.
