Nursery Room Leader

To start September 2026

Are you a current Room Leader or a Senior Practitioner who is looking for your next challenge, then this is the job for you. Little Farlington Nursery is seeking an inspirational and dedicated Room Leader to join our thriving Early Years team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role within a nurturing, forward-thinking nursery that believes in exploring “what is possible” for every child.

Within the role you would be working closely with the Nursery Management team, you will help lead the day-to-day management, quality and compliance of your room.

As Room Leader, you will:

Support the strategic leadership and smooth daily running of your room.
Lead, motivate and inspire staﬀ to maintain exceptional standards of care and education.
Promote a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Ensure full compliance with EYFS, Ofsted and ISI requirements.
Work alongside the Curriculum lead, ensuring planning, observation and assessment systems and being used in your room.
Champion a stimulating, inclusive and well-resourced learning environment.
Build strong partnerships with parents and carers.

You will be supported by an experienced leadership structure including a Head of Lower School & Nursery, Nursery Manager, Deputy Nursery manager & SENDCo, Third in Charge & Training & Development Lead and Curriculum Lead.

Little Farlington’ is a 57 place day nursery, set in the beautiful grounds of Farlington School in Horsham. Our ethos is all about 'what is possible'. The nursery mission is to provide the foundations for strong and successful future learning by fostering innate curiosity and individuality in our youngest learners, encouraging them to take risks, lead, play collaboratively, develop resilience and discover, explore and adventure.

Our nursery is an important part of our whole school. Farlington is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils currently aged from 6 months to 18 years old, and is set in 33 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside. The school enjoys a strong reputation for its academic excellence and welcoming community. Our beautiful site supports our passion for outdoor learning, and as an all through school, our approach to specialist teaching including Music, Art, Dance, and early Modern Foreign Language lessons, among others.

Job Type: Full Time/Permanent 40 hours per week, 51 weeks per year

Salary: Competitive and dependant on experience and qualification/s

Essential qualifications and experience:

Holds NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Years (essential).
Has experience as a Room Leader or Senior Practitioner.
Has strong knowledge of EYFS statutory requirements.
Demonstrates excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
Is confident using basic technology (computers, apps, handheld devices).
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check (at the school’s expense).
