We are looking for reliable Class 2 drivers to operate commercial trade waste collection rounds for a well-established independent waste management company operating across Sussex and the South East.
Drivers will operate single-person trade waste rounds, servicing wheeled bins and bagged waste for commercial customers.
This role suits drivers who are comfortable working independently, managing their own route and completing a full working day.
About Us
Established for over 40 years, Cox Skips Ltd & The Recycling Partnership Ltd are the South’s premier independent waste management and recycling specialists.
We provide a wide range of services including trade waste collections, wheeled bin services, site clearances, skip hire and recycling solutions for domestic and commercial customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out scheduled trade waste collections from commercial customers
- Servicing wheeled bins and bagged waste collections across a planned route
- Working independently on a single-person operated round
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects
- Using onboard technology to record collections and complete work
- Maintaining a high standard of vehicle cleanliness and care
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with road safety and environmental legislation
- Assisting the wider business where required, including site clearances, bin deliveries/exchanges, yard duties and skip work where operationally required
- Representing the company professionally when interacting with customers
While this role is primarily focused on trade waste collections, drivers may occasionally be required to support other operational areas of the business including skip or container work depending on operational requirements.
Drivers are expected to take responsibility for completing their allocated route and supporting operational requirements where required.
Routes & Working Area
Our operations cover a large service area including Brighton, Crawley, Croydon, Tunbridge Wells, Arundel, Hastings, Eastbourne and surrounding areas.
Drivers will be allocated a planned route each day and must be comfortable travelling across the wider operating area as required.
Routes can vary from day to day depending on operational requirements.
Drivers receive initial training and ongoing support from the office team, however applicants must be confident working independently and managing their allocated route.
The role requires drivers who are comfortable heading out on their own to complete collections, including in areas they may not have worked in previously.
Drivers must be confident navigating their route and completing their allocated work without requiring detailed route knowledge in advance.
Training
Successful applicants will receive approximately one week of training to familiarise themselves with the vehicle, systems and type of work.
Due to the nature of the operation, routes will vary and drivers must be able to adapt and complete their allocated work independently.
Working Hours
Drivers are expected to complete their scheduled working day in full.
This role is not a job-and-finish position.
Start times vary depending on operational requirements and may start from 04:00am.
Drivers may operate from our Brighton depot consistently and occasionally from our Turners Hill depot depending on operational needs.
Rota of 1 in 3 Saturday/Sunday working is required, and our trade waste services operate on bank holidays, so applicants must be willing to work these when required.
Salary
£45,050 per year (salaried position)
Paid monthly in arrears
Due to the physical nature of trade waste collections and the number of stops involved, this role suits drivers who are comfortable with an active working day.
