Wildlife Club Leader

Salary: £17.63 per hour, £1,904 (for 108 hours worked), FTE £32,083 per annum

Contract: Fixed Term from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2027

NOTE: The induction for this role will take place in July / August 2026, with the dates agreed with the successful candidate. Any hours worked in this period will be paid on a zero-hour basis.

Hours: 12 hours per month (108 for length of contract) for 9 out of 12 months of the year (term time only).

This includes 7 hours onsite 1 Saturday a month to deliver Ranger sessions, and 5 hours each month for preparation and planning.

Based: College Lake Nature Reserve, Tring, England, HP23 5QG

The Wildlife Club Leader will help nature recover by inspiring young people to engage and learn about wildlife, conservation and the natural world around them.

What you’ll be doing:

Planning, preparing and delivering Wildlife Clubs for young people aged 8-11yrs (Young Rangers) & 11-17yrs (Teen Rangers)
Coordinating session planning, communicating with and supporting Activity volunteers
Ensuring that all health and safety obligations are met in all aspects of the role including safeguarding children and young people
Undertaking training and attending meetings as agreed

What we’re looking for

Understanding & skills to be able to work with upper primary and/or secondary-aged children
Understanding of nature conservation techniques and a good knowledge of common UK wildlife and habitats
Ability to inspire engagement and a love of nature in young people
A good understanding of Health and Safety and welfare issues in supporting children in an outdoor education environment
Ability to work positively with the Visitor Centre Team and volunteers to plan and deliver a well-attended successful programme of events
