The Technical Sales Manager focusses on building and maintaining strong customer relationships and providing technical expertise across various stages of the customer journey, from trials to ongoing support, also playing a pivotal role in managing value engineering projects, supporting supply chain optimisation, and driving technical support initiatives for existing and new customers. You work closely with the internal sales team and the business’s technical & design functions to ensure our customers receive the highest level of service and innovation.
The Technical Sales Manager focuses on building, developing and owning strong, long-term customer relationships, providing technical expertise across all stages of the customer journey, from trials through to ongoing support. The role plays a pivotal part in driving customer satisfaction, retention, and growth, while also managing value engineering projects, supporting supply chain optimisation, and leading technical support initiatives for both existing and new customers.
Working closely with the internal sales team and the business’s technical and design functions, the role ensures customers receive the highest level of service, innovation, and value. The Technical Sales Manager also acts as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers identify opportunities for improvement and long-term partnership development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, develop and have responsibility for key business accounts as allocated by the Head of Sales
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers, acting as their technical liaison
- Act as the technical point of contact for existing customers, providing ongoing support and problem solving, leading and managing value engineering projects to optimise product performance and cost-effectiveness
- Oversee and support supply chain optimisation initiatives for both internal and customer processes
- Manage and support customer trials, ensuring successful outcomes and customer satisfaction
- Assist the sales team in identifying new business opportunities and supporting the development of tailored solutions for potential customers
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner
- Assist with customer onboarding by providing technical expertise to Account Managers and the Sales Team
- Address and resolve any technical or operational issues raised by customers promptly and professionally
- Support the technical function in continuous improvement efforts and innovation

· Address and resolve any technical or operational issues raised by customers promptly and professionally
· Gather and communicate customer insights and feedback to internal teams to support product development, innovation and commercial strategy
· Support the technical function in continuous improvement efforts and innovation
OTHER ALLIED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements relevant to the corrugated packaging sector
- Write up reports to provide feedback from customer visits, stating findings, feedback, actions & solutions
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Sales, technical and business experience in a similar industry
SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with customers
· Proven experience in technical sales or a related role, preferably within the corrugated or packaging industry
· Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues effectively
· Experience managing value engineering projects and optimising supply chain processes
· Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Internal and External Sales, Design, Commercial and Operations
· Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
· Willingness to travel nationally to support customer and business needs
· A proactive and customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships at multiple levels
· Proven experience in technical sales or a related role, preferably within the corrugated or packaging industry
· Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues effectively while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
· Experience managing value engineering projects and optimising supply chain processes, with a focus on delivering measurable customer value
· Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Internal and External Sales, Design, Commercial and Operations
· Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across complex customer requirements
· Willingness to travel nationally to support customer and business needs
