An Experienced Charge Nurse is a senior registered nurse who provides clinical leadership, supervises nursing staff, coordinates patient care, and ensures safe, high-quality healthcare delivery within a ward or unit. This role is commonly a Band 6 position in the UK NHS, although salaries vary between the NHS and private healthcare providers.

Experienced Charge Nurse – Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the nursing team during each shift.
Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care.
Supervise, mentor, and support registered nurses, healthcare assistants, and students.
Assess patients, develop care plans, and monitor clinical progress.
Allocate staff and manage workloads efficiently.
Ensure compliance with clinical standards, infection prevention, and patient safety policies.
Respond to emergencies and make clinical decisions when required.
Liaise with doctors, therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members.
Maintain accurate patient records and complete incident reports.
Participate in audits, staff training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Pay: £3,300.00-£4,300.00 per month
