Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our culinary team in the role of Cook. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional environment, contributing to the delivery of quality meals for our customers. The role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in the food industry, whether you have previous restaurant experience or are looking to expand your expertise in meal preparation and serving.

Responsibilities

Reporting line - The position reports to the head chef and higher position.
To monitor stock control and to inform the Head Chef of any discrepancies. To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "sell-by" dates for any reason.
To prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Head Chef, and promptly in accordance with agreed meal times.
To prepare special diet meals as needed, and as directed by the Head Chef
To ensure timely and efficient cleaning of all dishes and cooking utensils.
To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations.
To implement safe working procedures and practices in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
To ensure safe operation and maintenance, as needed, of all kitchen equipment. To report any item of equipment found to be faulty or deemed unsafe.
To assist in the monitoring and recording of refrigerator, cooler and freezer temperatures in accordance with Environmental Health requirements, to adhere to Safer Food Better Business.
To assist in the resolution of any complaints concerning the catering service.
To undertake other duties, as may be necessary from time-to-time.

Requirements

Experience preferred but not essential, full training will be provided.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and a friendly demeanour when serving customers or guests
Willingness to learn new culinary techniques and adapt to different roles within the kitchen
Ability to work flexibly, including during busy periods, weekends, or evenings if required

Hours - Regular Sunday and Monday 07.30 - 17.30, with the flexibility to cover annual leave ,sick leave etc.
