The Platform Project is an innovative social enterprise with a difference. We work closely with local authorities, education institutions and local employers to bridge the gap between education and employment through our unique concept of a 'training workplace’. We run an alternative provision (AP) service for schools which aims to engage and develop students who struggle in mainstream education. We specialise in youth enterprise, creative careers and employability skills.
About The Role:
Our Engage AP programme works with a maximum of 12 students at a 1:3 staffing ratio, giving you the time and space that's often missing in mainstream education. You'll deliver experiential learning project sessions focused on youth enterprise and creative careers, adapting the activities to ensure students with additional needs are engaged and well supported.
Hours: 35 hours a week, 8.30-4.00 Monday to Friday; Term-time only - 39 weeks pa
Salary: £15.38ph (£30,000 FTE)
The full role profile can be found on our website, but key roles and responsibilities will include:
· Session Delivery: Work with the Programme Lead to deliver the practical youth development sessions, making adaptations to various activities and creative projects in a way that engages, supports and motivates students with additional needs.
· Behaviour Management: Manage student behaviour and engagement with a clear and calm approach, maintaining firm empathetic boundaries.
· Student Support: Act as a key worker for a small caseload, supporting pastoral and safeguarding needs while coordinating individual plans informed by EHCPs.
· Progress Monitoring: Track student development across both programmes and produce termly reports for schools and referrers.
· Safeguarding: Identify any potential concerns when working with our students that might indicate safeguarding issues and promptly raise the issue with a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

This role is perfect for teachers, HLTAs or youth workers who want to use their educational expertise in a more flexible, relationship-focused environment. You'll blend elements of teaching, youth work, mentoring and training.
The post holder must be a patient, inclusive, resilient, flexible and creative person who is student focused and thrives when working as part of a small team to bring about a big difference in the lives of challenging but vulnerable young people. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience working with young people in a professional capacity and a passion for helping young people succeed.
