New Meaning Centre: NMT Stratford-upon-Avon
Employer: New Meaning Training (NMT)
Hours: Mon–Fri 07:30–15:30
Salary: From £24,784.50 - negotiable and based on experience

Introduction
Some young people aren't ready to walk through the door of a learning centre.
For some, anxiety is overwhelming. For others, previous experiences of education have left them feeling unsafe, misunderstood, or convinced that learning isn't for them. That's where our Transition Support programme begins.
We're looking for a Transition Support Tutor to join our team in Stratford-upon-Avon, supporting young people aged 16–25 who have an EHCP and need a different starting point. Rather than expecting learners to fit into a programme, this role is about meeting young people where they are and helping them take their next step from there.
You might spend part of your week supporting learners at home, in the community, or in small group settings. As confidence grows, you'll help them develop routines, life skills, emotional resilience, and the confidence to engage with learning, employment, or a centre-based environment. The aim isn't to rush the process. It's to help things feel possible again.
This role would suit someone with experience in education, youth work, mentoring, social care, community support, SEND, or SEMH provision. More than anything, we're looking for someone who can build trust, adapt their approach, and genuinely believe in the potential of young people whose journeys haven't followed a typical path.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised 1:1 and small-group sessions focused on life skills, confidence building, emotional wellbeing, and individual learner goals.
- Plan and adapt learning activities to meet individual needs, interests, and levels of readiness.
- Support learners to transition between different environments, including home, community settings, centre-based learning, volunteering, training, and employment opportunities.
- Deliver Proactive Lifeskills (PALS) activities and, where appropriate, Functional Skills in English and Maths as learners become ready to engage.
- Build positive, consistent relationships that help learners develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
- Apply trauma-informed approaches and NMT's Loving Care Approach in your day-to-day practice.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement, progress, reviews, and EHCP outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with tutors, SEMH staff, families, carers, local authorities, and other professionals to support positive outcomes for learners.
- Participate in learner reviews, planning meetings, and annual reviews where appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of resources, learning activities, and progression pathways for young people with SEND and SEMH needs.
You Will Have
You don't need to meet every requirement to apply. If you bring the right values, attitude, and experience of working with young people, we'll support your development through training, coaching, and CPD.
Essential
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
- Experience supporting young people with SEND, SEMH, anxiety, autism, or other additional needs in education, youth work, mentoring, care, coaching, or similar settings.
- The ability to build trusting relationships with young people who may find engagement difficult.
- Experience planning and delivering meaningful 1:1 or small-group sessions.
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach, particularly when supporting learners through periods of anxiety or uncertainty.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Confidence working independently whilst also contributing as part of a wider team.
- A genuine belief that every young person can make progress when given the right support.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft 365.
Desirable
- A Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills.
- Experience tracking progress against EHCP outcomes.
- Experience of trauma-informed practice, SEND provision, or alternative education settings.
About Us
New Meaning Training offers education with a difference. We work with young people aged 15–25 who haven’t always had a straightforward experience of education. Some have been misunderstood, some have disengaged, and some are still working out where they fit. What they find here is something steadier — a place where there’s time to settle in, where expectations are clear, and where they’re not judged on what’s gone before.
We now operate across six centres in High Wycombe (our HQ), Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Reading, Stratford-upon-Avon and Nuneaton, supporting around 320 learners in the 2026–2027 academic year. Across all centres, we offer a growing range of practical "Introduction to" programmes designed to help young people build confidence, develop skills, and discover what they might be capable of.
In Warwickshire, we operate centres in both Stratford-upon-Avon and Nuneaton. Stratford-upon-Avon is our larger, established Warwickshire centre, offering programmes including Motor Mechanics, Hair & Beauty, Creative Art & Design, Computing and Sport. Alongside these programmes sits our Transition Support provision, which supports young people with EHCPs who need a gentler, more personalised route into learning.
Transition Support looks different for every learner. Some begin with short visits at home or in the community. Others work towards attending the centre, joining group activities, developing independence, or preparing for employment. Progress isn't measured by how quickly someone moves on, but by helping them build confidence, trust, and readiness for whatever comes next.
Most of the young people we work with are referred through schools, PRUs and SEND services. That means we're always balancing two things — creating an experience where young people feel understood, while also delivering something clear, structured and trusted by the professionals around them.
We don't expect things to change overnight. We focus on helping things feel possible again — and building from there.
