We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN). In your role you are responsible for delivering high standards of patient care and supporting the smooth day-to-day clinical operations of Piddle Valley Vets. This role ensures the Practice consistently provides exceptional and compassionate care to patients and clients, contributes to a positive and supportive working environment, and promotes efficient and effective clinical procedures.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse with strong clinical skills, excellent organisational abilities, and a caring, team-focused approach. They will demonstrate effective communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient welfare and client care.
Core duties
Core duties include:
- Deliver high standards of nursing care to patients in accordance with veterinary and professional guidelines
- Monitor and care for inpatients, including administering medications, treatments, and fluid therapy as directed by the Veterinary Surgeon
- Prepare patients for surgical and diagnostic procedures, including anaesthetic monitoring and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure patient notes are completed to a high standard
- Support the Veterinary Surgeons during consultations, procedures, and emergencies
- Carry out nurse consultations, including weight clinics, post-operative checks, and preventative healthcare advice
- Provide compassionate and professional client care, offering clear communication and guidance to pet owners
- Assist with laboratory work, diagnostic imaging, and sample preparation where required
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards throughout the Practice
- Ensure equipment is maintained, prepared, and used safely and effectively
- Assist in stock control and ordering of clinical supplies and medications
- Contribute positively to the wider Practice team, supporting colleagues and promoting a collaborative working environment
- Participate in rota duties, including 1 in 3 weekends, bank holidays and out of hours for our own inpatient care only.
- Maintain CPD and professional registration requirements in line with RCVS standards

The ideal candidate
Apart from being a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you need to be calm when handling animals, a reliable member of the team and empathetic with our clients.
Clinically you can easily prioritise clinical tasks, clearly communicate (with humans) and have meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications
- Must hold a recognised qualification in Veterinary Nursing
- Must be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
Working hours
Your normal working hours will average 40 hours per week across a 4-day working week, plus participation in a 1 in 3 Saturday rota from 8:30am to 2:00pm.
Weekday shifts will include a combination of early starts from 8:00am and late starts from 10:00am. A paid 30-minute lunch break is included within each shift over 6 hours.
Pay: £27,955.20-£36,000.00 per year
