ROLE TYPE
Management + Hands-On
Everwaste Ltd operates one of Lancashire's most technically advanced recycling and waste processing facilities at Clayton Hall, Chorley. We are seeking a driven and experienced Engineering Plant Manager to take ownership of all plant engineering activity — from day-to-day maintenance management through to long-term capital planning. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an engineer who takes pride in uptime, builds systems that last, and understands that a well-run plant starts with the engineering function.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Plant availability is everything in high-throughput recycling operations. As Engineering Manager, you will be the key person responsible for ensuring that shredders, balers, conveyors, sorting systems, and processing lines at Clayton Hall are available, reliable, and safe. You will design and own the preventative maintenance programme, establish a rigorous essential parts holding strategy, and lead a team of engineers to deliver against both planned and reactive workloads.
FOCUS AREAS
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME
› Design and implement a comprehensive PPM schedule across all plant assets
› Develop asset registers with service intervals, wear data, and history logs
› Transition the site from reactive to planned maintenance culture
› Track PPM completion rates and report KPIs to senior management
› Introduce condition monitoring and predictive techniques where viable
› Ensure all maintenance activities comply with PSSR, LOLER, and PUWER
ESSENTIAL PARTS & STORES MANAGEMENT
› Establish and manage an on-site critical spares holding programme
› Define minimum stock levels for high-wear and long-lead-time components
› Build supplier relationships to ensure rapid parts availability
› Implement a structured stores system — location, labelling, and stock control
› Reduce unplanned downtime through proactive parts forecasting
› Manage engineering procurement budget responsibly and efficiently
