Are you an experienced and highly capable MIS professional with a strong track record of improving systems, data quality and operational effectiveness? Are you ready to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality MIS and data systems across a high-performing multi-academy trust?

Star Central, which is based at our head office in Blackburn, Lancashire, provides leadership, strategic direction and support to Star Academies and our schools.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable MIS and systems professional to lead the strategic and operational development of our Trust-wide MIS and associated systems. You will play a central role in ensuring that our systems are reliable, efficient and aligned to Trust priorities, enabling schools and central teams to operate effectively and meet statutory requirements with confidence.

The role requires an individual who can work both strategically and operationally, leading system development, establishing robust processes, and supporting schools to use systems consistently and effectively. You will work closely with school-based colleagues and central teams to standardise approaches, improve data quality, and maximise the value of systems such as Bromcom and wider data platforms.

You will have a proven ability to manage complex system environments, oversee change and implementation, and provide clear, practical guidance to colleagues. You will also play a key role in supporting compliance with statutory returns and ensuring that systems underpin accurate, timely reporting.

You will have:

Significant experience of working with school MIS and related systems, with expert knowledge of platforms such as Bromcom (or equivalent).
A demonstrable track record of improving system effectiveness, data quality and operational processes.
The ability to implement Trust-wide system developments and ensure consistent, standardised approaches across multiple schools.
Strong understanding of statutory data processes and the role of MIS in supporting compliance (e.g. census, assessment, exams).
The ability to translate technical concepts into clear guidance and support for non-technical colleagues.
Experience of managing system implementation, change and continuous improvement.
Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across schools and central teams.
